A Tuk Tuk is aldo known as an auto-rickshaw, these vehicles that became popular in Southeast Asia have since made their way around the world. The three-wheeled, open-air vehicles are one of the most unique transportation methods and just continue to grow in popularity!

There are many different auto rickshaw designs. The most common type is characterized by a sheet-metal body or open frame resting on three wheels; a canvas roof with drop-down side curtains; a small cabin at the front for the driver operating handlebar controls; and a cargo, passenger at rear.

Tuk Tuk Driver License

To operate a in Sri Lanka, a special license is required, separate from licenses for other vehicles such as cars, vans, and bikes. We offer two convenient methods to obtain this license:

  • Option 1: We can facilitate the issuance of your driving license even before your arrival in Sri Lanka. This process typically takes 3-5 hours on a weekday. Cost: 30 € (inclusive of document processing and service charges).
  • Option 2: We can accompany you to the Automobile Association of Ceylon to obtain the special Sri Lankan license, provided you have an International Driving Permit (IDP) or a valid National Country License. Cost: 25 € (excluding photo and photocopy charges).

Requirements:

  • Copy of International Driving License or National Country License
  • Copy of passport
  • Passport size photo

Travel Insurance

While our vehicle come with comprehensive coverage that includes damage to the vehicle and third-party vehicles, it's highly recommended to have your own insurance, especially for personal injury coverage.

Insurance charges per Tuk Tuk: 60 $ (One Month Valid)

Damages or Accidents caused due to any third party will be claimed via the insurance, else the claim will be by the person who rode the vehicle
